PRISON PHOTOGRAPHY
Prison Photography is a collection of 137 shots taken by the inmates of the Penal Institution of Bolzano/Bozen, Italy during the photography course taught by the Nicolò Degiorgis between 2013 and 2017.
PEAK
Peak focuses on the cyclicality affecting the Dolomites through the illustration of its summers and winters, its dusks and dawns, its whiteness and blackness, its roughness and softness.
HEIMATKUNDE
Heimatkunde reproposes the schoolbook that Nicolò Degiorgis produced between the age of 8 and 10. Children were invited to explore all the different layers of their world: from their individual self to their family, friends, classroom and community passing through the geography and history.
HIDDEN ISLAM
Hidden Islam acts as a cadastral catalogue for approximately 100 building types – from warehouses to basements, shops and garages – employed by the Islamic communities living in North-Eastern Italy as places of prayer.
LO SCERIFFO & LA MOSCHEA ITINERANTE
Lo sceriffo e la moschea itinerante (The Sheriff & the Travelling Mosque) takes the shape of a comic, playing on the farse-like nature of the debate between the former major of the city of Treviso, Giancarlo Gentilini, and the the Islamic community of Treviso.
OASIS HOTEL
Oasis Hotel documents the hitck-hike that photographer Nicolò Degiorgis took across Cross-Desert Highway in Xinjiang/China, a road built in the mid-1990s to facilitate the extraction of oil in one of the world’s most inhospitable deserts, the Taklamakan, and stretching along more than 500km from North to South.
BLUE AS GOLD
Blue as Gold is a relfection on the European refugee crisis. The book is composed of alternated gold and blue sheets of paper in between which float loose, small-scale photographs of migrant boats crossing the sea. On one side they are depicted in positiv, and on the backside in negative.
HIDDEN ISLAM – 479 COMMENTS
Hidden Islam – 479 Comments acts as an appendix to the first photographic volume and extends the discussion further by providing a textual discussion and the topographic locations of the makeshift places of Islamic worship visited by the author in North East Italy.
THE PIGEON PHOTOGRAPHER
Julius G. Neubronner, born 1851 in Kronberg im Taunus as the son of a pharmacist patented in 1907 the design of a camera which could be attached to pigeons and would automatically take pictures during their flight in order to track their journey.
THE LONG 19th CENTURY DIGESTED VOL.I & II
A collection of pamphlets reproducing a wide array of books published between the French Revolution in 1789 and the outbreak of the Great War in 1914. Every volume comprises 125 booklets, each consisting of a selection of sixteen pages of the original title.
